This guy’s work is unbelievable. What’s even more crazy about it is that they’re all real moments but there’s a very precise cinematic and conceptual feel to his work. Which is an especially hard thing to do when you’re doing documentary photography.

Sometimes people let the same problem make them miserable for years when they could just say, “So what.” That’s one of my favorite things to say. “So what.” “My mother didn’t love me.” So what. “My husband won’t ball me.” So what. “I’m a success but I’m still alone.” So what. I don’t know how I made it through all the years before I learned how to do that trick. It took a long time for me to learn it, but once you do, you never forget.

I like to see people reunited, maybe that’s a silly thing, but what can I say, I like to see people run to each other, I like the kissing and the crying, I like the impatience, the stories that the mouth can’t tell fast enough, the ears that aren’t big enough, the eyes that can’t take in all the change, I like the hugging, the bringing together, the end of missing someone.

DREAMS

Alyssa Flavell - Dreams act as guardians to our sleep, as they envelop and protect us from our waking realities. Memories and traces of our previous day are written on our inner psyche, then partially erased during our sleep. Although we may consciously try to forget particular experiences, they lie dormant in our minds. I explored this shifting state between dreams and reality through the imagery of silken threads appearing yet simultaneously disappearing, protecting yet unravelling, as the dreamer encounters different shadows and illusions. Drawing on the psychological research of Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud, this series flickers with the rhythms of an intangible gestalt.

About:

Colour my life with the chaos of trouble ~ Belle and Sebastian

I sometimes love life. I sometimes hate it. I love to laugh. I cry about the stupidest things. I always get told that I think too much and worry too much -- because I do. I like looking at stuff - pictures, films, people, animals, landscapes. Everything has a story. Everyone has a story. And I am here to see. I'm here to listen. I'm here to share.
